Threads of Survival - Introduction

TALK BY STEVEN CARNE.

Curator of Threads of Survival, Steven Carne, provides some insights into the making of the touring collection and why a national NHS campaign group, normally associated with marches, rallies and legal cases decided to move to quilt making. Told with humour, visuals and music, Steve explains the inspiration and background to the project that began in 2020 during Lockdown. How it began as a simple activity focused on making a national quilt to document the pandemic and the importance of the NHS, and how it grew to a collection of 30 quilts and textile pieces created by over 160 people around the country.
